Biography:
Jermaine Travis is a dedicated union leader and community advocate with over two decades of experience in the labor movement. A proud resident of Ridgeland, Mississippi, Jermaine began his journey in 2003 when he joined BellSouth Telecommunications and became a member of the Communication Workers of America (CWA).
Driven by a desire to understand how unions shape workplace conditions and support employees, Jermaine immersed himself in union history and labor laws. His passion for worker advocacy grew as he saw the transformative impact unions have on employees worldwide, ensuring fair treatment, improved working conditions, and meaningful benefits.
As the Local President of CWA 3511 in Jackson, Mississippi, Jermaine leads efforts to empower members and advocate for policies that enhance workplace equity and fairness. In addition to his role at CWA, he serves as the Vice President of the Central Mississippi Central Labor Council, working to uplift communities and improve the lives of Mississippians.
Jermaine’s commitment extends beyond the workplace. He is deeply invested in creating a better future for his state—one where his children and future generations can thrive, contribute meaningfully, and feel safe.
